Giali is an intermediate dive site in the North Aegean featuring a volcanic islet whose underwater flanks offer dramatic diving terrain. The submerged slopes are covered with pumice formations, volcanic rock gardens, and mineral-stained walls that create an otherworldly underwater landscape. Crevices in the volcanic rock shelter octopus, moray eels, and lobsters, while the nutrient-rich waters support schools of bream, barracuda, and damselfish. Sponges and hydroids colonize the rocky surfaces, with occasional gorgonian fans on the deeper exposed faces. The geological uniqueness of the site combined with healthy marine life populations makes Giali a distinctive diving destination in the Aegean.
