Vatera Beach Shipwreck is an advanced wreck dive off the south coast of the island of Lesbos in the North Aegean. The remains of a cargo vessel lie off this long sandy beach, resting on the seabed at significant depth. The wreck has become a thriving artificial reef, with the hull sections covered in sponges, sea squirts, and hydroids. Large groupers have taken up residence in the holds, and moray eels weave through the corroded metalwork. The surrounding sandy seabed occasionally reveals torpedo rays and flatfish. The depth requires careful gas management and the exposed offshore position can bring currents, making this a dive for well-qualified divers. Boat access from Vatera village.
