Critter Circus is a legendary muck diving site in the Manado area of North Sulawesi that lives up to its playful name with an incredible density of rare and unusual marine creatures. The black sand slope hosts a rotating cast of macro stars including Banggai cardinalfish, Ambon scorpionfish, hairy frogfish, robust ghost pipefish, and Coleman shrimp residing on fire urchins. Coconut octopus carry shells across the sand, blue-ringed octopus flash their warning colors, and ornate cuttlefish perform their mesmerizing color displays. The site consistently produces rare sightings that thrill even the most seasoned underwater photographers. With minimal current and depths typically between 5 and 18 meters, Critter Circus allows for long, productive dives focused entirely on the small wonders of the Indo-Pacific.
