South Kri is an action-packed dive site on the southern tip of Kri Island in Raja Ampat's Dampier Strait, where converging currents create one of the most fish-dense environments in the region. The site features a coral slope and wall descending to 40 meters, with the point acting as a gathering zone for massive schools of barracuda, trevally, surgeonfish, and fusiliers that form spectacular swirling formations in the current. Grey reef sharks and white-tip reef sharks are regular residents, while wobbegong sharks hide under coral overhangs. The reef itself boasts excellent coral coverage with gorgonian fans, soft corals, and healthy hard coral gardens. Macro life is also impressive, with pygmy seahorses and nudibranchs found among the gorgonians. Strong and variable currents make South Kri an advanced dive, but the overwhelming abundance of fish life—combined with the nearby world-record-holding Cape Kri—cements this area as the epicenter of Raja Ampat's legendary biodiversity.
