Timur is a current-swept dive site on the eastern side of Bangka Island in North Sulawesi, offering exhilarating drift diving along coral-encrusted walls and slopes. The site's name—meaning 'east' in Indonesian—reflects its position where oceanic currents deliver nutrient-rich water, supporting dense populations of soft corals, sea fans, and barrel sponges. The walls attract pelagic visitors including eagle rays, reef sharks, and schools of jacks, while the shallower reef top is alive with clouds of anthias, damselfish, and butterflyfish. Pygmy seahorses hide among the gorgonian fans, rewarding patient divers with sharp eyes. The currents can be strong and unpredictable, making Timur best suited for experienced divers who will be rewarded with outstanding biodiversity and vibrant reef scenery.
