Broken Ledge is an intermediate dive site in the Andaman Islands, India, named for a fractured reef ledge that creates a series of steps and overhangs descending to 24 meters. The broken topography provides excellent shelter for marine life—moray eels peer from crevices between the ledge sections, while groupers and sweetlips rest beneath the overhangs. The ledge surfaces are covered with healthy hard corals and soft coral patches that attract butterflyfish, angelfish, and schools of fusiliers. Turtles are reliably encountered gliding along the ledge face or resting on coral platforms. The site's intermediate rating reflects moderate currents that enhance the fish activity without creating overly challenging conditions. Broken Ledge offers a well-balanced dive combining interesting geological features with the abundant marine life that characterizes the Andaman Islands, making it a popular choice for divers of moderate experience exploring Havelock Island's underwater offerings.
