Secca delle Formiche di Vivara is an advanced seamount dive between Ischia and the tiny island of Vivara, where submerged volcanic pinnacles create one of the region's premier dive sites. The pinnacles rise from 50 meters to within 15 meters of the surface, their walls smothered in red coral, large gorgonian fans, and dense colonies of golden zoanthids. The exposed position attracts large pelagic schools including amberjack, tuna, and barracuda. Currents can be strong and unpredictable, but this is arguably the finest open-water dive in the entire Gulf of Naples.
