The Gorgonias

The Gorgonias is an advanced dive site off Capo Galera near Alghero in northwestern Sardinia, renowned for its spectacular gorgonian sea fan gardens that rank among the finest in the western Mediterranean. Dense forests of red and yellow paramuricea gorgonians cover the deep walls, swaying gently in the current. The site attracts grouper, barracuda, and moray eels, while nudibranchs add tiny jewels of color to the fans' branches. Sardinia's legendary water clarity provides excellent visibility to admire these underwater forests, making this a must-dive for experienced divers visiting the Alghero coast.
