Cape Maeda Blue Cave is Okinawa's most iconic dive and snorkel destination, where a natural limestone grotto creates a breathtaking blue light spectacle. The cave entrance lies at approximately 6 meters depth in the cliff face, opening into a large chamber where the interaction of sunlight with the underwater entrance produces an intense, luminous blue that fills the entire space. This natural light show is most vivid on clear mornings when sun angle is optimal. The reef surrounding the cave extends to 40 meters, featuring excellent coral diversity and abundant tropical fish life — green turtles, moray eels, lionfish, and colorful wrasses are commonly seen. The advanced rating accounts for the depth range beyond the cave and potential surge conditions at the entry point. Cape Maeda draws visitors from across Asia, yet the Blue Cave experience remains genuinely awe-inspiring regardless of how many times you return.
