Water Treatment Plant is a beginner-friendly shore dive site on Okinawa's west coast, named for the nearby municipal facility that serves as a landmark for finding the entry point. The site offers a gentle reef slope extending from the seawall over sandy bottom and coral rubble, transitioning into healthy coral gardens. Despite its unglamorous name, the site is beloved by local divers for its exceptional macro life — pygmy seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish, and an extraordinary variety of nudibranchs make it a macro photographer's paradise. Mandarin fish can occasionally be spotted at dusk performing their mating dance among the coral rubble. The shallow, calm conditions make it perfect for long, leisurely dives focused on finding small treasures. Night dives here are particularly productive, with Spanish dancer nudibranchs, basket stars, and hunting crustaceans emerging after dark.
