Cobia Point is an intermediate dive site off Sihanoukville, Cambodia, named for the large cobia fish that regularly patrol the waters around this rocky reef. The site features a series of underwater rock formations and coral-covered boulders that attract both resident reef species and passing pelagics. Cobia — powerful game fish that can exceed a meter in length — cruise above the reef, often accompanied by remora fish attached to their flanks. The reef itself supports a healthy community of hard and soft corals, with barrel sponges, gorgonians, and whip corals adding variety. Schools of barracuda and trevally appear from the blue water, while bamboo sharks rest on the sandy bottom between the rock formations. The current-swept position of Cobia Point concentrates nutrients and marine life, making it one of the more exciting dive sites in the Sihanoukville area for intermediate divers seeking encounters with larger marine species.
