Koh Kon is a beginner-friendly dive site off Sihanoukville, Cambodia, situated around the small island of Koh Kon in the Gulf of Thailand. The island's fringing reef provides a sheltered diving environment with gentle currents and good visibility during the dry season. The reef features a mix of hard corals, soft corals, and sponges growing over a rocky substrate that gradually slopes into deeper water. Schools of snappers, fusiliers, and curious batfish are common sights, while nudibranchs and tiny crustaceans provide excellent macro subjects on the reef surfaces. Bamboo sharks are occasionally spotted resting in sandy depressions, and cuttlefish display their mesmerizing color-changing abilities among the coral heads. Koh Kon's relaxed atmosphere and uncrowded conditions embody the appeal of Cambodian diving — an authentic, unhurried underwater experience in a country whose marine treasures are only beginning to be appreciated by the wider diving community.
