MV Pippo is an advanced wreck dive off Malta's west coast, where a small coastal vessel rests on the Mediterranean seabed. This compact wreck provides an accessible wreck diving experience on the less-dived western side of the island. The vessel sits on the sandy bottom with her hull and superstructure creating a clear wreck profile. The compact dimensions allow thorough exploration during a single dive, with the wheelhouse, cargo areas, and engine room all accessible to experienced wreck divers. The preparation of the vessel and Malta's consistently clear waters make navigation straightforward. Marine colonisation is developing on the wreck's surfaces, with sponges, tunicates, and algae establishing the biological foundation. Fish populations are growing, with the wreck serving as a habitat concentration point on the otherwise sandy seabed. Groupers, damselfish, and wrasses are among the regular residents. The west coast location means the MV Pippo is less frequently dived than the famous wrecks off the north and east coasts, providing a quieter wreck diving experience. The site is accessible from local dive centres along the western coast. The advanced rating reflects the depth and overhead environments within the wreck. Malta's visibility, typically exceeding 25 metres on the west coast, ensures safe and enjoyable navigation both outside and inside the vessel. Water temperatures range from 15 to 26 degrees across the year. MV Pippo adds another option to Malta's extensive wreck diving menu, particularly valued by divers based on the island's western side.
