Bear Cove near Halifax, Nova Scotia, is an advanced shore dive where a rocky cove opens to more exposed Atlantic waters. The deeper sections feature impressive granite formations with overhangs and channels supporting rich cold-water ecosystems. Dense kelp forests, plumose anemones, and northern sea stars cover the rocky walls. Large lobsters and wolffish inhabit the deeper crevices, while schools of pollock circle the larger boulders. The site's partial exposure to the open Atlantic means conditions can be challenging, requiring careful assessment of weather and sea state before diving.
