New Bear Cove near Halifax, Nova Scotia, is an intermediate shore dive where a rocky cove opens to the Atlantic, creating a mix of sheltered and exposed diving environments. The deeper sections reach moderate depths with large granite formations creating channels and overhangs. Rich kelp forests support diverse cold-water life including large lobsters, Jonah crabs, and schools of pollock. The cove's orientation funnels nutrient-laden water, supporting denser marine growth than many nearby sites. Harbour seals are occasional visitors. Timing dives around tidal changes improves both visibility and current conditions.
