Bajo Playa Chica in Quintay, central Chile is an advanced dive site featuring a submerged rocky reef near the former whaling station. The reef system supports rich marine biodiversity fueled by the cold Humboldt Current, with dense populations of sea urchins, abalones, and kelp crab among towering kelp forests. Schools of Peruvian grunt and other Pacific species patrol the reef edges. Strong surge and current conditions require advanced skills, but the site's productivity and proximity to Santiago make it a favorite among experienced Chilean divers.
