El Fraile

El Fraile in Quintay is an advanced offshore dive site featuring a dramatic rocky pinnacle rising from the Pacific depths. This exposed site near the old whaling station experiences strong currents and surge that bring exceptional concentrations of pelagic life. Large schools of jack mackerel, occasional Chilean sea bass, and hunting sea lions create exciting encounters around the pinnacle. The challenging conditions and boat-access-only location demand experienced divers, but El Fraile rewards with some of central Chile's most thrilling underwater action.
