Punta Catalina is an advanced dive to 24 meters at the southern tip of the Catalina Islands off Guanacaste, Costa Rica. This exposed point bears the full force of Pacific currents, creating nutrient-rich conditions that attract spectacular marine life. Giant manta rays are the star attraction, with multiple individuals often seen at the cleaning stations. Bull sharks, eagle rays, and schools of mobula rays pass through seasonally. The volcanic rock formations create dramatic underwater landscapes with deep channels and overhangs where large groupers and nurse sharks shelter. Punta Catalina is considered one of Costa Rica's premier dive sites for big-animal encounters.
