Sombrero is a beginner-friendly dive site near the Catalina Islands off Guanacaste, Costa Rica. Named for a hat-shaped rock formation that breaks the surface, this site features a rocky reef descending from the distinctive pinnacle. The reef supports diverse marine life including angelfish, parrotfish, and schools of chromis, while octopuses and seahorses can be found by observant divers. The sheltered position behind the pinnacle provides calmer conditions than the more exposed Catalina sites. Sombrero offers an enjoyable and scenic dive with the iconic rock formation serving as a natural landmark and gathering point for marine life.
