La Cadena Misteriosa

La Cadena Misteriosa (The Mysterious Chain) is a beginner-friendly dive at María la Gorda on Cuba's Guanahacabibes Peninsula. This intriguing site features an old anchor chain of unknown origin stretching across the sandy seabed, now encrusted with corals and sponges and serving as an artificial reef corridor. Marine life gathers along the chain's length, with schools of grunts and snappers following the linear structure while moray eels and lobsters shelter in the chain links. The surrounding reef features healthy coral formations typical of María la Gorda's pristine waters. The mysterious chain adds a sense of maritime adventure to an already beautiful and accessible reef dive.
