ParaÃso Perdido (Lost Paradise) is an advanced dive at MarÃa la Gorda on Cuba's Guanahacabibes Peninsula. This remote deep reef site features dramatic wall diving along a pristine reef drop-off that plunges into deep blue Caribbean water. The wall is adorned with massive black coral trees, giant gorgonian fans, and spectacular sponge formations in vibrant reds, purples, and oranges. Large groupers, barracuda, and reef sharks patrol the wall edge, while eagle rays glide past in the blue. The depth, currents, and remote location demand advanced skills, but ParaÃso Perdido rewards with a virtually untouched deep reef that lives up to its paradisiacal name.
