Lonely Mushroom is a beginner-friendly dive in the Strait of Gubal, Egypt's Red Sea, named for a solitary mushroom-shaped coral formation rising from the sandy seabed. This isolated erg is a magnet for marine life, with dense schools of anthias, butterflyfish, and chromis swarming the coral head. Cleaner shrimp stations attract groupers and Napoleon wrasse, while the surrounding sand reveals garden eels and stingrays. The simple single-feature navigation makes it ideal for newer divers, yet the concentration of life keeps everyone fascinated.
