Alcalá Bay, also known as Baja de La Tortuga (Turtle Rock), is an advanced dive site off western Tenerife near the fishing village of Alcalá, reaching 15 meters depth. Despite the moderate depth, the site is rated advanced due to boat-only access and occasional current exposure. Named for the green sea turtles that are virtually guaranteed sightings here, this volcanic reef is one of Tenerife's premier turtle encounter sites. Beyond the turtles, the reef hosts trumpetfish, large groupers, and dense schools of Atlantic fish, while the rocky crevices shelter moray eels and octopuses. The crystal-clear western coast waters provide exceptional visibility for unforgettable turtle interactions.
