Brain Cave (Cueva de Cerebros) is an advanced cave dive off Tenerife's western coast near Playa San Juan, reaching 14 meters depth. Named for the brain-like patterns of encrusting organisms on the cave walls, this atmospheric site features a volcanic cavern with a wide entrance leading to a spacious chamber. The walls display fascinating biological formations resembling neural networks, created by sponges, bryozoans, and calcified algae. Narval shrimp, crabs, and small lobsters inhabit the dark recesses, while trumpetfish and groupers patrol near the entrance. Despite the moderate depth, the overhead environment and navigation requirements make this an advanced dive best suited for experienced cave-aware divers.
