El Motor is an advanced dive site near Carboneras in Almería, reaching 27 meters depth where the remains of an old boat engine rest on the Mediterranean seabed. The engine block has become a focal point for marine colonization, surrounded by the natural volcanic reef of the Cabo de Gata region. The artificial structure attracts large conger eels, groupers, and schools of bream, while the surrounding reef hosts nudibranchs, gorgonian fans at depth, and dense fish populations. The deeper profile and potential currents along this exposed coastline demand experience, but the combination of the historical artifact and protected marine park biodiversity makes El Motor a distinctive dive in southeastern Spain.
