Barracuda Hole is an intermediate dive in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, named for the large schools of chevron barracuda that frequently aggregate in this current-swept channel. The site features a reef wall with overhangs and a sandy depression where the barracuda form their iconic spiralling formations. Beyond the namesake barracuda, divers encounter grey reef sharks, turtles, and schools of jacks hunting in the current. The reef itself is decorated with Fiji's trademark soft corals in vivid pinks and oranges. Current strength varies with the tides, and timing the dive correctly allows divers to drift comfortably through this action-packed underwater arena.
