Broken Reef is an intermediate dive site in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, where a fractured reef system creates an intricate maze of coral channels, swim-throughs, and overhangs. The 'broken' topography provides an incredible diversity of habitats within a compact area — sunlit coral gardens transition to shaded caves where soft corals bloom in abundance. Reef fish density is exceptional, with clouds of anthias, damselfish, and butterflyfish competing for space. Hawksbill turtles are regular visitors, and whitetip reef sharks rest in the deeper crevices. The varied terrain ensures every dive reveals something new, making Broken Reef a favourite repeat dive for Taveuni-based operations.
