Cabbage Patch is an intermediate dive in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, named for the enormous cabbage-like formations of lettuce coral (Turbinaria) that dominate the reef landscape. These massive coral plates, some spanning several metres, create a surreal underwater garden unlike typical tropical reef scenery. Between the cabbage corals, soft corals in pinks and purples add contrasting colour, while anemonefish, wrasses, and triggerfish navigate the coral maze. The site's shallow sections offer excellent snorkelling, while deeper areas provide more exploration for certified divers. Cabbage Patch showcases Fiji's remarkable coral diversity in an unusual and photogenic setting.
