Halfway Reef is a beginner-friendly dive site in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, positioned roughly midway along the strait and offering a gentle introduction to this world-renowned diving area. The site features a broad, gently sloping reef system covered in both hard and soft corals, with calm conditions in the sheltered sections. Colourful reef fish including angelfish, butterflyfish, and anthias populate the coral formations, while moray eels and octopus hide in the crevices. The accessible depth profile and moderate currents make it ideal for newer divers wanting to experience Fiji's famous underwater colours without the intensity of the strait's more exposed sites.
