Purple Wall is an intermediate dive in the Somosomo Strait off Taveuni, Fiji, celebrated for its breathtaking wall of purple soft corals that creates one of the most photogenic scenes in Fijian diving. The vertical reef face is carpeted with dendronephthya soft corals in deep purple and violet hues, interspersed with splashes of pink and orange. When the current runs and the polyps fully extend, the wall becomes an otherworldly curtain of colour. Anthias and damselfish dance in front of the purple backdrop, creating perfect wide-angle photography opportunities. Whitetip reef sharks cruise the base of the wall, and hawksbill turtles glide past. A must-dive Taveuni highlight.
