L'Œil is one of the most photographed sites on the Port-Louis coast. Two arches and a small grotto punctuate the coral shelf between 12 and 22 metres, creating a frame-through-frame layout that wide-angle photographers travel for. Eagle rays and hawksbill turtles pass through regularly, and lobsters and morays occupy the cracks. The site is accessible for Advanced Open Water or well-practised Open Water divers. Best visibility sits in the 20 to 25-metre range between December and May, when the trade winds are lighter.
