L'Aquarium

L'Aquarium earns its name. This shallow, sheltered site on Port-Louis's west coast is a magnet for reef fish of every size and colour, and the photographers and marine biologists who visit the area tend to request it on repeat. Maximum depth is around 10 metres, making it ideal for introductory dives, baptisms and buoyancy practice. Expect dense schools of sergeant majors and blue-striped grunts, plus parrotfish grazing on the coral and shrimp tucked into crevices. Water is warm and clear year-round, though visibility is at its best outside the September to November wet window.
