Makronisos South Reef is a beginner-friendly dive site off the southern tip of Makronisos island in the Attica region. This expansive reef system features gentle slopes with rocky formations, sandy patches, and healthy seagrass beds. The site is sheltered from northerly winds, providing calm conditions on most days. Marine life is plentiful: schools of bream and chromis hover above the reef, while wrasse, blennies, and gobies occupy the rocky substrate. Octopus, cuttlefish, and nudibranchs are regular finds among the crevices. The clear Aegean waters offer good visibility, and the moderate depth allows comfortable dives for newly certified divers. A popular boat dive from Lavrio port.
