Coral Cave is an easy cavern dive on the south coast of Crete near Paleochora, named for the impressive colonies of false coral and colorful encrusting organisms that cover its walls. The cave has a wide entrance allowing plenty of ambient light, making it suitable for beginners and snorkelers alike. Inside, the walls glow with orange, yellow, and purple sponges alongside anemones and small crustaceans. Damselfish and wrasse dart through the entrance while octopus often shelter in the rocky recesses. The calm, sheltered waters of the south coast ensure comfortable conditions throughout the diving season from May to October.
