Jimmy's Reef is a rewarding intermediate dive site on the south coast of Crete near Paleochora. This submerged reef system features a series of rocky ridges and valleys at moderate depth, creating diverse habitats that support abundant marine life. Schools of two-banded sea bream and saddled bream cruise along the ridges, while octopus, moray eels, and scorpionfish occupy the nooks and crannies below. The reef is decorated with colorful sponges, anemones, and occasional small gorgonian fans. Visibility is typically excellent in these south coast waters, and mild currents bring nutrients that keep the reef ecosystem thriving. A reliable, all-round dive site popular with local dive centers.
