Kalypso - Back of Swimming Pool is an intermediate dive at the Kalypso resort area on Crete's south coast near Plakias. Despite its unassuming name, this site offers surprisingly diverse underwater terrain behind the resort's natural swimming area. Divers descend along a rocky wall that drops into deeper water, with overhangs and small caves punctuating the cliff face. The wall is covered in sponges and tunicates, and hosts resident moray eels, groupers, and spiny lobsters. The deeper sections reveal gorgonian fans and the occasional passing pelagic. Current can pick up along the wall, adding an element of drift diving. A hidden gem that many visitors overlook.
