Knossos Housereef is a relaxed beginner dive on the south coast of Crete near Paleochora, named after the famous Minoan palace though located far from the archaeological site. This easy shore dive features a gentle reef slope with mixed sand and rock substrate, ideal for new divers and training courses. The reef hosts a healthy population of Mediterranean species including ornate wrasse, painted combers, two-banded sea bream, and octopus. Posidonia seagrass meadows fringe the reef, sheltering pipefish, juvenile fish, and small cuttlefish. The calm, shallow waters and easy navigation make it a favorite for dive centers running introductory experiences in the warm Libyan Sea.
