Paleochora Schisto Lighthouse is an advanced dive site off the southwestern coast of Crete near the town of Paleochora. The dive explores the rocky underwater terrain around the lighthouse promontory, where dramatic cliffs and boulder fields descend into deep Mediterranean waters. The exposed location attracts larger fish species and the clear Cretan waters offer excellent visibility. Groupers, amberjack, and barracuda are regularly spotted along the rocky walls, which are decorated with gorgonians, sponges, and Mediterranean sea fans. Currents can develop around the headland, adding to the challenge. This site rewards experienced divers with some of southwestern Crete's most dramatic underwater scenery.
