Skinaria Cave is an advanced cave dive site on the south coast of Crete near Skinaria Beach. Unlike the simpler cavern dives in the area, this site features deeper penetrations into the limestone cave system, requiring proper training and equipment. The cave entrances are decorated with colorful sponges and corals, while the interior reveals impressive stalactite formations — evidence that these caves were above sea level during past ice ages. The play of light at the entrance creates atmospheric conditions beloved by underwater photographers. Groupers and shrimp inhabit the twilight zones. Skinaria Cave is one of Crete's most notable dive sites, combining geological wonder with marine exploration.
