Souda Pierced Rock is a beginner-friendly dive site on the south coast of Crete, named for a distinctive rock formation with a natural hole or arch that creates a scenic underwater swim-through. The site offers a fun exploration experience as divers pass through the pierced rock formation, which frames views of the blue Mediterranean water beyond. The surrounding reef hosts typical Cretan marine species including wrasse, damselfish, sea bream, and octopuses. Moray eels and scorpionfish shelter in the crevices. The shallow depth and interesting topography make Souda Pierced Rock an engaging dive for beginners and an enjoyable scenic dive for experienced divers visiting the Plakias region.
