Souda Rock is a beginner-friendly reef dive on the south coast of Crete, centered around a prominent underwater rock formation that creates varied habitat zones. The rock's surfaces host sponges, sea cucumbers, and encrusting organisms, while the base is surrounded by sandy areas and scattered boulders. Schools of sea bream and damselfish circulate around the rock, with octopuses and moray eels occupying the crevices. The clear Cretan waters provide excellent visibility for appreciating the underwater topography. Souda Rock is a straightforward but satisfying dive suitable for all levels, offering a representative taste of south Crete's accessible Mediterranean reef diving.
