Car Wreck is an advanced dive site on the northern Attica coast near Marathon, featuring a sunken vehicle resting at depth on the seabed. While the origin story of how the car ended up underwater remains a local mystery, it has become an unusual and photogenic dive attraction. Marine life has thoroughly colonized the vehicle: sponges and anemones cover the bodywork, octopus shelter in the engine bay, and small groupers have claimed the interior. The surrounding reef adds conventional diving interest with rocky formations and Mediterranean species. The depth requires advanced certification, and the quirky nature of the dive makes it a fun conversation piece. Accessed by boat from the Marathon coast.
