Purple Wall is a beginner-friendly dive site on the northern Attica coast near Marathon, named for the striking purple and violet sponges and encrusting organisms that cover a shallow rock wall. The wall descends gently to moderate depth, with its colourful coating creating a visually stunning underwater scene even in shallow water. Beyond the purple-hued wall, the reef features scattered rocks and sandy patches with typical Mediterranean marine life: wrasse, damselfish, blennies, and octopus. The vivid colours make this an excellent underwater photography site, especially when sunlight illuminates the wall in the afternoon. Easy conditions and unique visual appeal make Purple Wall a local favourite.
