Explosion is an intermediate dive near Hersonissos on Crete's north coast reaching 30 meters. Named for an explosive underwater rock formation that appears to have been blasted apart, this site features dramatically scattered boulders and rock fragments creating a complex labyrinth of swimthroughs, channels, and overhangs. The 'explosion' topography provides exceptional habitat diversity: groupers hide in the deep crevices, moray eels weave through the passages, and schools of bream patrol above. Sponges and small gorgonians decorate the deeper sections. The varied terrain makes each dive different depending on the route chosen through the boulder field. A creative and engaging intermediate dive near Heraklion.
