Marades is an advanced dive site near the island of Kea (Tzia) in the western Cyclades. This offshore reef features dramatic underwater topography with walls, pinnacles, and deep overhangs exposed to Aegean currents. The current-swept environment supports impressive marine life: dense gorgonian forests cover the walls, large groupers patrol the deeper ledges, and schools of amberjack and barracuda cruise through the blue water. Sponge gardens in vibrant colours decorate every vertical surface. The combination of depth, current exposure, and offshore location demands advanced skills and proper boat support. One of the more challenging but rewarding dive sites accessible from the Athens area.
