Seals Cave is an advanced cave dive on the Attica coast near Marathon, named for the Mediterranean monk seals (Monachus monachus) that historically used this cave as a resting spot. The cave system features narrow passages leading to air-filled chambers where the endangered seals have been documented. Divers must navigate carefully through the dark passages with proper cave training and equipment. The cave walls are home to lobsters, slipper lobsters, and cave-adapted shrimp, while the entrance area supports typical reef life including groupers and moray eels. The ecological sensitivity of the monk seal habitat demands respectful behaviour from all visitors. A rare privilege to dive in a monk seal environment.
