Baong Penyu, meaning Turtle's Head, is a distinctive dive site near Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park, where a rocky promontory shaped like a turtle's head marks the entry to a beautiful shallow reef descending to 20 meters. The site features a mix of healthy hard coral table formations and delicate branching corals that shelter a vibrant community of reef fish including moorish idols, bannerfish, and angelfish. Green and hawksbill turtles frequent the area, living up to the site's name as they graze on sponges and rest on coral ledges. The protected waters within the national park ensure excellent visibility, often exceeding 25 meters, making this an ideal site for underwater photography. The gentle slope and calm conditions welcome intermediate divers while still offering enough biodiversity to captivate experienced explorers of Bali's most pristine marine sanctuary.
