Gili Tepekong is an advanced dive site near Candidasa in East Bali, centered on a small rocky island whose underwater terrain features a spectacular canyon known as "The Canyon" that descends to 30 meters between towering rock walls. The canyon is swept by powerful thermoclines that can drop water temperatures dramatically, bringing nutrient-rich upwellings that attract sharks, large rays, and schooling pelagics. Whitetip reef sharks are virtually guaranteed here, often resting in groups on the canyon floor. The rock walls support impressive growths of black coral, gorgonian fans, and bright orange soft corals that contrast beautifully with the dark volcanic rock. The site's exposure to open ocean swells and strong currents makes it genuinely challenging—sudden downwellings and surges demand constant awareness and good buoyancy control. Gili Tepekong is East Bali's most iconic advanced dive, offering raw, powerful ocean encounters that veteran divers remember long after surfacing.

Absolutely stunning dive site. The visibility was exceptional and we spotted several species we had never seen before. Will definitely come back.
Great spot for advanced divers. Currents can be tricky but the marine life makes it worth it.
One of the best dive sites in the region. Highly recommended.
