Batu Gosoh is an exhilarating dive site off Bangka Island in North Sulawesi, where a current-swept rocky pinnacle attracts an impressive concentration of pelagic marine life. The submerged rock formation rises from deep water and is adorned with dense soft coral growth, massive sea fans, and encrusting sponges in vibrant colors. Strong currents bring nutrient-rich water that attracts schools of barracuda, trevally, and surgeonfish, while grey reef sharks and white-tip reef sharks are regular visitors. The pinnacle's crevices host lobsters, moray eels, and pygmy seahorses hidden among the gorgonian fans. Eagle rays occasionally glide past in the blue, and schooling batfish hover in the lee of the rock. The challenging currents make Batu Gosoh strictly an advanced dive, but experienced divers are rewarded with thrilling action and spectacular soft coral scenery that rivals the best of North Sulawesi.
