Nudi Retreat is a celebrated muck diving site in the Lembeh Strait, descending to 28 meters along a volcanic sand slope that serves as a haven for an extraordinary density of rare and unusual marine creatures. True to its name, the site is a nudibranch paradise where patient divers can spot upward of thirty species in a single dive, from the flamboyant Nembrotha kubaryana to the tiny, translucent Phyllodesmium. The dark sandy terrain also conceals wonderpus octopus, Banggai cardinalfish, robust ghost pipefish, and an array of commensal shrimps on sea cucumbers and urchins. Night dives here reveal an entirely different cast of characters including bobbit worms and stargazers emerging from the sand. Nudi Retreat represents the pinnacle of Lembeh's critter diving, rewarding macro enthusiasts with encounters that are simply impossible to find anywhere else on the planet.
